The University of Johannesburg Library, in collaboration with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, will host its annual conference on 12 and 13 September 2023
The conference theme is Imagining sustainability: the future of academic libraries depends on everyone.
How can libraries effectively craft a footprint into the future using a 'sustainable thinking' approach?
'Sustainable thinking' is an idea that aligns with the vision and mission statements of the majority of libraries. Libraries are essential in creating community awareness and teaching visitors about resilience and a sustainable future.
The UJ International Conference will be something different in 2023.
The two days will offer great speakers and entertainment and will be open to academic, public, school, and special libraries to attend.
Day 1 will be an open day with library sponsors and suppliers, stalls and workshops.
Day 2 will be a complete programme with robust conversations and excellent national and international speakers (hybrid format).
The conversations will focus on the following:
- Showcasing sustainable building techniques and services
- Promoting understanding and action surrounding sustainability in their respective communities
- Supporting, encouraging and showcasing new sustainability research.
At the two-day conference, attendees will learn more about the world of imagining sustainability, enabling them to make an informed choice regarding the future of libraries.
This popular annual event will focus on how libraries and stakeholders can work together with commitment, respect and understanding to stay relevant and adjust to society’s needs.
