K4DD aims to help the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to respond to foreign policy challenges through providing evidence and expertise sourced from a global network.
What is K4DD?
The challenges faced by the UK’s foreign policymakers are varied and complex, including humanitarian crises, tackling climate change, improving education, developing economies, and much more. Improving the data and evidence used by decision-makers is essential in creating successful government policy and programmes, and ultimately facing these challenges.
K4DD (Knowledge for Development and Diplomacy) aims to assist UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) staff in responding to overseas challenges by providing rapid access to a global network of expertise.
The K4DD programme is delivered by a consortium of the UK’s leading development and diplomacy institutions, led by the Institute of Development Studies (IDS). Working together, these organisations provide the FCDO with responsive access to a worldwide pool of experts to help improve the impact of policy and programmes through evidence and learning.
Join K4DD’s global pool of experts: a call for subject matter experts
The ACU seeks expressions of interest from members of our global network of academics to support the FCDO in its policy and programme decision-making. K4DD offers a unique opportunity for researchers from the global south to engage directly with UK government officials, and help bring Southern perspectives and evidence to urgent development challenges.
Individuals based in low and middle-income countries can contribute to this programme through the provision of evidence reviews, and also through participating in planning and delivery of learning events for FCDO officials in the UK and its in-country posts.
Project start date: 1 November 2023
End date: 31 October 2027
